It’s easy to blame it on the tuner but we have to remember we signed up for it but I’ve had a blast , I’m doing the trans post for the forum members myself I have guys all the time wanting my shop to do engine rebuilds for there hot rods but I have stayed away from it because grown men turn into winky little babies when it breaks but since my hellcat has gone faster and faster at the track I have people coming up to me asking if I provide the service I usually just say I do my own car but starting next year I’m planning on offering the installation service in the dodges And I can sublet the tuning to curt

Yeah , I have no doubt that you got this , I'm gonna have to see what shipping cost is to your place :giggle:, for the trans. weight , I guess it weights about 150 > 200 lbs. ?...… but hopefully I never have to pull the trans.
Just race it in track mode and I’d be willing to bet it will last quite awhile

So you think track mode is better on trans. bc it shifts a little quicker than sport ?

@meancat besides that little bit of power your car has it’s hard to believe that it’s able to burn the tires much less the clutches in the transmission 😂😂

I know track mode provides the hardest shifts which I believe line pressure wise is the highest which provides better clamping force for the clutches so the apply times will be quicker I personally have never raced at the track in any other mode but track

The worst thing about this tyranny rebuilding in mine is the down time I can disassemble And rebuild one if these in a day easily and having to wait on parts suck , my impatience is killing me and not knowing which day I’m going to get the power packs in from ALTO will takes its toll on my impatience lol

OK I get it , I've tried both modes T & S at the track & sometimes with mixed results , but I do think T mode is a little better.

I don’t mind the harsh downshifting at the end of the quarter mile because it helps me slow down when you get 140plus traps you will want it , and some tracks have less stopping distance

I don’t race mine but I always double tap my SRT button to set it on custom mode when I take it out. My custom mode for the trans is track mode. I don’t see a need to drive it in any other mode for the trans?

That brings me to the question - if it's ok to shift it to neutral right past the trapes ?
I use to do that in my stick car but not sure if it might hurt something in the auto ?

From everything I understand it is not OK especially if the engine is not running. Here’s something I found:
Auto transmissions are designed to operate similarly to manual transmissions. If you are coasting with an automatic transmission, all you are doing is the same as when you coast with a manual transmission.
It cannot damage the box if the engine is running and your transmission pump is working. But the downside is: do not try to put it into D when in high speed, because that can burn your clutches gradually by making them slip when they are engaging at high speed.

I’d be to scared to myself but I don’t it would hurt anything other then at that speed the parts are already spinning at an unbelievable rpm and release will have some more rpm right before the rpms start to come back down if your not modded that’s much I’d say put it in manual mode and let it shift out at the end of the track you will be in 5th or 6th and it will just slow down in either one
Only time will tell what putting into neutral will do to it but I’ve only heard of one person on here doing it and they were running like 10.4 I think
I’d like to concentrate on being able to slow the car down myself then trying to remember putting it in neutral

That's a good thought , shifting it to manual & down shifting at your own rate so not to be to harsh on it.
I also will sometimes just switch it to Eco mode a little bit past the traps where it will down shift easy.

I had the pleasure of talking w Marc0779 while at Clay City last weekend. He apparently has made more Hellcat/Demon/Redeyes runs than most. He was explaining to me that he made a real effort to keep the rpms down on his engine at all times other than the actual run itself. Burnouts at 4 - 4500 rpm and putting it in neutral during shutdown. He explained to me that he'd made 700 runs running his car that way.
To each his own, but none of us are fighting our big ol' tanks at the finish line to the point of being too busy to push the shifter up a click. :D

I had the opportunity to listen to several cars in the other lane downshifting after the finish line and it really sounds hard on the engine from the outside.

IMO, in the end do what you're comfortable with but maybe try it once and form your own opinion.

Hellno,
Ask Curt about unnecessary rotor speed after the finish line next time you talk to him. He was there when I was talking to Marc and brought that up.
