I bought my 2018 SRT Durango used. It is certified pre-owned. I noticed a bad shimmy in the wheel under heavy braking. Obviously the rotors are warped. Took it to the dealer they said it's the tires. Put new tires on still shaking. So I bring it back they put new rotors on but they are the non-slotted China crap. They proceed to tell me they are "Brembo spec rotors", and they don't make the slotted rotors anymore. I call his B/S and they are supposedly putting the correct ones on.Am I wrong for putting up a stink?

It’s weird. I’ve seen new MOPAR rotors with slots and without. Not unusual though I believe. Actually, many of the new performance Euro cars are coming out smooth without slots. I don’t think the shop is trying to pull a fast one on you though. You’re not the first I’ve heard where Dealers are replacing with smooth saying that’s what is being used now.

Just got a new 2021 Scat Pack Charger and Brembo Brakes have rotors with out slots on them now. Will see if as good once I start some aggressive driving with it.

Been trying to figure out the science behind the one and lonely micro slot on the new fronts. Any idea?
It has to do with the brake air ducting and air reflector on the new Cars. I put then on my 2015 as well.

There are 3 slots on rotors like Hunter's. They're all placed at different distances from the center, so they basically span the entire surface of the rotor.

Ahh, that makes more sense.

At one time is was all about the cross drilled, and then people said they’d crack, and then it was all about the cross/slotted vent and people said that would keep the rotor cooler. So the semi slots are new to me.

Sometime around late 2019 or early 2020 Dodge started phasing out the rotors with tons of slots and started phasing in the 3 slot rotors. Surprised to hear the OP saying his are completey slick with no slots but I'm sure it's cheaper for Dodge by removing that from the machining process post casting.

They help with the cooling, but also act like a cheese grater. and shave the pad every time you use the brakes. probably contribute to the dust also.

Welcome to the forums!

Slots yes, but how many?

The "old" design had 30 slots per side, the new design only has 3 slots per slide.
