I was just driving my car minding my own business and all a sudden it stumbled and both windows cracked as it the doors had been opened and the electronic stability came on the dash.Maybe 100 feet farther it just shut off like you have switched it off.I coasted into a drive way and stopped and when I went to crank it.....it cranked up just fine and ran fine all the way home.So the next day I bought a new battery thought that was it and overnight it was grave yard dead! I charged back up went for a spin seems mine parked and then over night dead again.Something is pulling a lot of juice. So now I handed it over to demon performance to find the problem.I know back in the 70's I had problem's with my 70 challenger r/t,my 68 gtx and also my 69 charger r/t and back then it most the time the circuit boards they used.

Do you have any aftermarket electronics? I added a Tazer at one point for access to the line lock function and soon afterwards my Challenger had a very similar issue. I bought a new battery and went forward but the battery was later found to be fine and after disconnecting the Tazer I haven't had the issue again... I also leave it connected to a battery tender when I am not driving it.

Check your IC Coolant pump. Just had to replace mine. It'll run even after car is turned off, and run until battery gets down to under 5 volts. It'll kill a battery in short order...

2016 challenger with 17,000 miles.....now the blue one I took my voltmeter and with the battery unhooked it had 12.8 and when I put the cable on it only dropped to 12.7. But the orange one I done the same thing and it went from 13.4 to 13.0 I check all the fuse's relays very thing checked ok but when you attach the positive cable it has very noticeable spark. not just a little spark like the blue one.I just dont think there's anything that would draw that much fire accept maybe the alternator or maybe the pcm or ignition switch?

Were they still using the same circuit boards in 2016 that they did in the late '60s and 1970?

If I wanted to isolate what was sucking current, I'd put an ammeter between the battery and fuse box, then start pulling fuses and watching changes in draw. I have found many bad components this way.

I actually think the longevity of circuit boards and components has gotten much worse. Seems like older electronics continue to work while newer stuff fails at an alarming rate. Maybe mfr's are getting good at planned obsolescence.

I have heard, no idea if it is true, that this is a real problem for military electronics. The life of common components is completely inadequate for Mil Spec devices.
