Yea I have to find out and research extensively what to do to keep the vermin out.
Gonna talk to Jim today and get an update on everything as far as if thats all the damage and how much this is going to cost.

Wow. I've heard about this all my life (rats and squirrels and things chewing the wiring) but I've never personally encountered it. Sorry you could to experience it. Most folks say "it's a country thing" and you're living in the biggest city in the land and there you go. While it sucks, look at it this way - you're guy found the problems, pretty easy to fix (comparatively); could have been much worse.

My son lives in Pittsburg...(suburban setting..)..his next door neighbor had a new Cherokee that fell prey to critters...(very expensive dealer re wiring)...my son figured he'd take a look under the hood of his "23" Ram1500...(both are DD and parked outside in the driveway)...sure enough,,,same thing...apparently there is some type of soy based material used in the wire covering that vermin enjoy

and the damn tree rats [f'n squirrels] and bats are everywhere.. both sets of bastards got some of my home wiring. just some newer stuff fortunately, from a bit of rewiring 7-8 years ago. I can thank the green agenda for that [requirement for recyclability]
