I have a 2016 Hellcat Challenger A8 that I will be building to be more of drag car than a street car. So far I have installed the ATI 10% overdrive pulley, pinned the crank, green belt, ID 1050x injectors, jba catless mid-pipes, legmaker intake, 180 degree t-stat and engine and trans tune by Peitz Performance. I have the following parts sitting on the shelf trying to decide which route to go: Litens 2.85 upper and belt, a spare SC snout with Metco hub and the following pulkey rings 2.85, 2.75, 2.65 and 2.50, FI intake spacers and blanket, HHP drag springs, BMR cradle lock-out bushings, bronze race stars 18x5 with MT 26x6x18 and 17x9.5 with hoosier slicks which I will be changing out to 305/45/17 MT ET Street R’s. Next on the purchase list will be AAD drag pack rear arms, diff brace, mark williams drive shaft and undecided on which axles. Motor internals will stay stock until it is time to rebuild. I think that covers everything so far, will try to get some pictures as progress goes forward.

Looking at MS109 since there is a VP dealer about 5 miles from my shop. After talking with Micah at Challengerfest I am going to have OST do all my tuning remotely going forward so I will see what they recommend.

Solid build plan. What made you go with the Mark Williams driveshaft. Some serious coin! The new Wiles 1pc driveshaft looks very nice for 1/3 the cost.

When I was racing modified’s I ran Mark Williams shafts and never had a failure. I have a couple friends that have been running the WOO late model series and they have been running his shafts for a few years and they have had no failures. Personally I feel like the hellcat shaft is rather long for a one piece shaft. Seems to be quite a few complaints about top end vibration also and any driveline vibration is hard on equipment if it is a continual issue. Eventually I plan on building the motor and I want to make sure I have the best parts I can to eliminate any failures in the driveline.

That's a nice parts list! Both of those pulley set-ups have their positives and negatives. The Litens won't have the belt slip and squeal when you let off of it after a pass, but you can't change it out like the Metco to get the higher boost levels. I went with the Litens for the longevity factor for the supercharger.

Very well said. The one piece shafts really are hit and miss. A lot of vibration issues documented over the years. Running a dampened DSS 4" Carbon 1 piece on my car. Have not seen vibration up to 170mph. There was a bit of whine prior to changing the diff fluid - No noise since flushed with Motul 80w90.

Run the smallest pulley your tuner will allow and let it eat. No reason for a race car to run a Litens.
I have been on the fence on running the stock SC or going ahead and upgrading it now. If I do stay with stock SC it will be run stock with smaller pulley until it grenades then upgrade.

Interesting about the whine going away with the diff fluid change. I have noticed a whine with mine after changing the ds and installing the diff brace. I was pondering if part of it may be due to tying the diff to the cradle causing a weird harmonic. I may try the fluid change for kicks.

Highly recommend a flush. This is what i used along with a full bottle of MOPAR friction modifier.

Had some new parts come in over the last few weeks. Got the AAD drag pack kit and the Darrell Cox Racing light weight battery kit. Trying to decide which axles to order now. Getting closer to having all the parts here so I can lower the cradle and change all the parts at once.

Is there that much difference between the G-force axles and the DSS ones?

Honestly... it’s hard to say on the axle question. DSS claims to have updated theirs but whether that is true or not.... I don’t know. I haven’t heard any recent complaints about the G-Force axles but they had their problems in the past also. I have never had any issues with DSS except poor customer communication when called to answer questions. I currently have one of their 9” conversions and it has been flawless. Other very fast cars with hundreds of runs on that setup without any issues either. I will be selling that in December along with the matching driveshaft (no vibration up to 184 mph). If you are building a drag car, you are going to need to consider the combination of gearing and tire that is going to work for your power level. If you plan on keeping the hp90, the second gear launch is looking like the way to go and the 9” has a good selection of ratios that will work best with that. I will also be selling my entire cradle with everything at a significant discount over buying everything separately. Complete AAD, Carlyle 15” brake conversion with spindles, all bushings and 1320 drag springs.
