I remember in 68 I was 14..one of my after school jobs was a paperboy for The Buffalo Evening News...every fri. @ the end of my route was car dealers row..Plymouth Dodge Pontiac.Mercury..I would ride my bike there and sit in all the cool cars in the showrooms...the Pontiac dealer had a white and blue Trans Am that I would spend hrs.in....I remember the salesman sayin...hey kid give me a dollar down...and a dollar a day for the rest of yer life for the car....I remember thinkin..I will never be able to have enough money to own a car...It was a depressing thought for a 14 yr. old kid.....:giggle::giggle:;)
I was buying mini bikes and motorcycles by then. Bought my 1st car at 15 and flipped it for a profit. Small but a profit.

I rolled out of a couple cars and trucks during the plandemic with profit or our original cost back. That ship has sailed.

I loved riding through the fields and woods on the bikes. Would ride all day. We could go miles and miles on different trails.

They'll probably bring it in an enclosed trailer with an entourage wearing a crown saying that they can't put any miles on it because it's precious.
And puffing out their chest, wearing a hawaiian shirt, with a visor claiming to run 8s at 150. But can't take it to the track because its "banned."

Financing a car for 15 years?

And I feel stupid for going with 6 year terms, which I usually accelerate to 4.5 to 5 years with ~125% payments.

Same as my house, I'm paying enough to turn my 30yr mortgage into 20, and in about another year or so will pay even more to get to ~15yrs.

Saves me almost $100k in interest if I recall.
If you have the right car, not a bad idea.
Ford GT if you won the allocation lottery is one that comes to mind.
New Mustang GTD will be the same way.

And remember, you are not likely keeping the car the entire time. Mainly holding it to appreciate in value then selling.
The Hellcats and Demons are not cars I would do this with.

Ship is starting to sail on some of the 90s performance stuff so those are interesting buys right now.
NSX and MKIV Supra Turbo come to mind

The aircooled 911 Turbos - is that a bubble or will those cars see 7 figures?

Those air cooled cars are selling for crazy money right now. I'm not an investor or collector and don't know enough to wade into that market.

We have a ton of car events around here so there's always a mixture of cars and people.

A Wed meet not far from me brings out the Corvette Club guys. It's like I'm back in high school. I rarely go.

I take the Charger dirty most of the time and park it out of the way with it locked up. I'm there to talk to friends.

I had the opposite… and outlaw biker of a father that put me on my first minibike at 4yrs old, and taught me to shoot a couple years after that. My kids are riding and shooting too. I think it’s safe to say that you’ve made up for lost time, lol.

I started worked at a gas station when I was 15. Finally got a job at Lou's Sunoco where all the cool cars were and then at a machine shop - auto parts store where everyone was a racer. My hometown was full of race cars.

When I was 14-16 I was a pit gopher for a local top fuel team and a Super Stock racer. I would sleep either under the truck or in it inside a sleeping bag. I could only go to the events on the east coast. My mom wouldn't let me go any further away.

One of my secretaries is so upside down with car payments...(bought a 5 yr.old shitbox from one of those buy here pay here bandits)...she still owes almost 8 grand on a car on it's best day is worth maybe 2 grand...and has been nothing but a money pit the last 2 yrs...even if she totaled it..insurance wont even covers what she owes....she's a bright girl...when I looked @ her paperwork..I asked how the hell did you get yourself in this mess...I get the blank stare...all she cared about was she got a car and they financed it....:rolleyes:

Praying on people's desperation and/or emotion of "buying a car"...

I was blessed my Mom taught me about money and financing early in life. I'll never forget going in to buy a brand new 97 Toyota Tacoma 4x4. Next thing I know 3 sales guys are hammering me with numbers, drawing circles and arrows on paper, blah blah blah. I let them go on for about 5 minutes and come up with some down payment amount and monthly payment for 72 months. I said lemme see your calculator and they all go quiet. I tapped away on the calculator spun it around and asked them how a $30K truck was worth $72K in payments of 6 years. I told them to get their sales manager and quit the BS or I was going to another dealer to make the purchase.

I remember thinking do people really fall for that crap. I ended up getting the truck for $28K and paid it off in 24 months.
