Jim Wilder says the tires were custom made by Mickey Thompson for the 170 and will last 10,000 miles. I'll be shocked if that's true.

The one time I did look over a Demon 170 in person at my local dealer, I did think the grooves in the tread on the rears seemed really deep, just looked like more rubber than the 2 sets of ET Street R's that I have bought in the past few years.

Did a direct A - B comparison yesterday the MT 315/50R17 E/T street R that I have on my RE don‘t seem as deep, yes taking in to consideration they have miles and burnouts on them. I will be putting New ones on soon and will do a thread depth gage comparison.

The MT ET Street R on the Demon are a specific design for the 170 and not the same as the consumer available version.

The grooves are wider on 170 version and not quite as deep as consumer version. They're also unavailable as of right now if someone needed replacements.

I was going to get a profile rear shot looking down side of 170 & RE but then my Schmuck light bulb turned on and said not apples to apples. I have 17“ Triumph custom wheels albeit 17X11 they may have slightly different offset but side profile where it transitions from sidewall to contact patch looks slightly different, again not same wheel so tough to compair.

Remember back in 2015 when some original Hellcats were actually selling for over $150K. The price on the 170s will also come down to reality in time. The 170 is still just a Dodge, and far too many were built for them to command insane prices for the long term. Some guys seem to think the 170 is going to be like the next Tucker or Duesenberg at the auctions, but they are wrong.

Right now the 170 is the car to have, but soon Dodge will bless us with an entirely new electric Charger and guys will be drooling over that instead, and paying out the ass for one. Hmm, ok well maybe the new Charger actually will help keep 170 prices up (some).
