It is my understanding this, much like torque management, has far more to do with mileage / CAFE type things than just mechanical injury prevention, and that its reach and severity of intervention was increasing with each year model. Is that right?

Wow. And the only fix to this (and TM) is unlocking and reprogramming right?

Even with the Stage 2 tune?

I have read a lot about this on the FB Challenger groups, I haven't watched my 2019 afr's much, not sure what they do under long pulls. I've read that the early builds/tunes don't do it nearly as bad though.

Get a real tune Eric and let it cool off and forget those parameters.

The unlock and retune is the only way out now, right?

I know I know…I still have 2 years left on my extra platinum warranty/coverage(and a friendly dealer) and 15 payments still, feel like I’m living for free on this 800hp hot rod with all that powertrain coverage and my driving habits! Gonna ride it out and then contact Moored

I will try to monitor or my AFRs though just to see…

Choice is simple:

1, Stage 2 with warranty and dealer support.

2. Aftermarket, much more hp, cheaper, no warranty. I was on the fence with my '22. Last summer I watched 2 '22RE's with aftermarket tunes melt down. Scared the crap out of me.

I went S2.

Good plan. Have to tell you, last weekend I changed the diff fluid (it is nearly silent now), today when I got home I replaced the battery with the lighter lithium I got this week. Took it out just west of here (oh where it did a 10.8/135 two weeks ago in street trim) and just drove around. John makes it work real smooth. They are a nice ride. It merges well also.

Mag this has relevance to the thread. My car demonstrated some of the worst of COT. Running it on the road courses not only fried about three sets of converters, made it run horrible and was guilty (legal speak for ya) in contributing to two supercharger failures and an engine. @Jon-MooredPerformanceLLC tuned it plus I don’t take any chances and remove the cats now for off-road. It runs GREAT!
