The reason to go with the dart would be the improved oiling to the lifters. When I build an engine, I think I’m going to go with the dart

Where I saw it say the block weighed 25lbs also said it only supported 1500 hp, so definitely not right. Would hope their aluminum block is more capable than that

They said “over 1500”. That’s standard understated cya. Inside info is that it’s over 2500 without issues. I won’t be making over that so it’s good.

I just saw a Scoggin-Dickey video from a few months ago comparing Mopar aluminum to OEM BGE to Dart, and they said the Mopar block was 125, so I figured your Callies will be in that neighborhood

The center mains are 6 bolts. The Hellephant engine was always a mystery when it came out in crate form. What was actually in the thing was never released and who was going to tear one apart to see? It’s certainly not just another cast block. The DragPak example is making over 1800 when freed from the NHRA FSS restrictions. And that’s with a supercharger that puts a huge load on the crank and block that isn’t there with turbos. The Hellephant is the same block in many respects (not all). Structurally it is and will be just as strong. Callies is a very capable manufacturer when it comes to stuff like this. The inside info we got from there is that 2500 is no problem. The crankshaft going in this one with be their top billet Ultra. I do not plan on chasing hp with this. We’ll see what the car will do at 2000. It’s going to be a lot lighter than before so mid to low 7’s should be easy. We’ll see.

Interesting, setup for VVT, but I don’t see any bolt provisions for MDS plugs? Surprised to see it have provisions for the MDS solenoids (if that’s what I’m looking at)

Also just a word on weight savings…. Once you’ve removed all the unnecessary parts and pieces that can simply be unbolted, it starts to get expensive to replace parts with light weight pieces. This block is 125 lbs lighter than the Dart. At this stage….. that is huge. One of the things you see on some of the faster Hellcats are CF doors. That is a $3500 weight reduction that gets you 60 lbs for your money. This block was $3000 more than the Dart. While certainly not as strong as a billet example (or the Dart) it is seriously upgraded to being a capable race motor. R&D insider at Callies says 2500 on turbos and methanol is no issue and that will work for me at our target weight of 3500 lbs.

Didn’t really even look at that. I don’t use VVT. We were running a lockout with the factory phaser but will be going with the new Blackbird timing setup that eliminates the phaser on the 6.2 all together.

Yes he is. They have a bunch of serious race stuff in the works that will raise the whole G-3 Hemi platform to a higher and more affordable level. I had a conversation with Geoff a few weeks back and he told me to consider this block. Adam has been a Callies dealer for a long time and has his connections there so he inquired to find out what the story is. He has previous experience with the old cast aluminum Mopar blocks and would not have considered that as an option. This is not one of those and he was told it will do the job. He put that to me and I pulled the trigger. After getting it hands on to inspect…. It is a completely redesigned structure that has a number of features to deal with a higher level of power. Time will tell. If it will support the power we throw at it…. That 125 lbs will show up on the time slip as a full tenth.
