Looks like they did a hell of a nice job!!!!!

I didn't know Firepunk worked on anything other than trucks. Hell they are only 40 minutes away from me. Looking forward to seeing this car at some of the races this year.

Firepunk has the fastest door slammer diesel I believe... they came on to the Diesel scene and took over a few years ago.

I'm with @Hellion, had no idea they did this sort of work out of their shop, but I'm betting it's top notch.

Bad ass but would be cheaper to just build a drag car & put some Hellcat body panels on it , that's all that is left of the original Hellcat anyway. It's not really a Hellcat anymore , just the skin.

Yeah , Cheaper is not the right word , easier would be better , I know building a pure race car is not cheap or easy , but I think the plans on this build obviously was to be the fastest Hellcat in the world ? …. my point is the same though - IT'S NOT A HELLCAT ANYMORE when you've ripped everything out of it that made it such. Build a Pro Mod , throw a Hellcat engine in it & some fenders & a vin # off a totaled wrecked Hellcat & there you have it , same thing. Would you call that a Hellcat ?... No , it wasn't born as such & neither was a pro mod Hellcat.

I'm all for mild or wild builds & record setting builds but at some point it looses it's identity of what it is except for a built drag car but still want to identify it as a Hellcat. It's only a word or name at that point , not the car.
So great your setting records in the name of a Hellcat.

The question I have....when is a Hellcat no longer a Hellcat and is it just a race car with a Hellcat badge?

Reason for my question; if we replace the engine, trans and rear diff....is the car really a Dodge Hellcat?

Well I wouldn't say 100% when 90% of it is gone.

I do agree with most that you said BUT don't drink too much of the Kool-Aid , jealousy has nothing to do with what I have said & nobody said it's not a real car , it just doesn't have 90% of a Hellcat left in it.

I am proud for what they have accomplished & representing our community but that is also a small part of this Forum. I wish them continued success with their Hellcat .

I agree. It started life as a Hellcat. It still has a Hellcat VIN. Consequently... it’s still a Hellcat. You could make the argument that any mods (or some mods but not all?) mean it’s not a Hellcat anymore. Where do you draw that line and who gets to draw it? This car is a 2015 Hellcat that has been modified for drag racing. Nothing more... nothing less.

If I were doing this build (I am not of course) I would start with a wrecked Hellcat - and save some money up front (or even a regular Challenger and add a Hellcat body) - I agree it's a Hellcat, but in name only - the Hellcat is a package. Would I knock them for building it - No, it is their money - spend it how you want.
I could buy a blown hemi on Nitro and throw it in a Hellcat body and run in the 3's - would it still be a Hellcat? Physically - maybe, but just depends on how you stretch the definition...
Not hating - it's still cool as hell, just hard for me to call it a Hellcat any more...
