Officially I was going south, number 7 went west. It’s getting warm enough for me to crawl under it and check the other side pretty soon. By the way temperature was about 60 when this happened. So just slightly warmer than my track day two weeks ago that was about 0 da.

Another #7...

Unfortunate situation. I have better built basic 6.2L. It’s essentially rods and pistons, but I regret not upgrading certain areas to carry it further long term. They rate the motor for “900whp”, which I had no idea of. I assumed throwing rods and pistons in meant bullet proof. Either way, it’s lived happily at 1000+ wheel most of its life. With the TT setup it has seen mid 1200’s to the wheels with no issues at 18psi. Motor has been quiet, doesn’t drink oil, etc.

If I have to do it again…..at least better wrist pins and better main caps, etc.

Wondered where you'd been. Odd it's only rated at 900, I'd have thought specs would be part of the build?

I’m here. Getting through the winter and it’s been doing just fine.

I was surprised about the 900 as well. I trust my tuner who has used a couple of the basic short blocks before and there seems to be a ton of power thrown at them and they do fine. Everything has it’s limits though. A couple of upgrades would of cleared it north of 1200 easily.

Maybe they're just conservative.

Mid 1200's. Nuts.

Modern hemis are expensive enough that I'm not looking forward to the inevitable but I'm pretty sure it won't be stock displacement going back in either. I'm torn on that one. I just know limits are being pushed and I should start saving now.

I may actually be at satera in the next 4-8 weeks. Looking at having them do the chiller install for me. I have a couple other numbers to get first though.

Power doesn’t live there full time, which helps. DD mode is only 11-12 psi and the next bump is 14ish which makes the typical 900 wheel. One more push of the button jumps to 18psi and the big power.

Number 7 piston broken and turned 90degrees in the cylinder. Number 7 rod broken in half. No signs of detonation. Waiting on the machine shop now. Got a new block and drop in rods and pistons from HHP. Should be going back together in the next couple of weeks. Also added a 10% lower going to a straight e85 tune instead of flex. I never ran gas anyway.

I've given thought to splitting my Tunes up as well between a straight 93 and a straight E85 but Flex is sort of nice for a daily.

Glad to see It'll be fixed soon though

Wow piston broke. Mine did something similar but with all the carnage it was hard to see what happened first.

Do you have any logs of your car making passes in the past? I'd be curious to see them. Your tuner once told me to not worry about 6 degrees of knock retard. Overtime that adds up and flex tunes aren't meant to be pushed that hard.

I would not race on the flex fuel tune ! It's more of a tune for road trips and when changing from pump gas to E85 or back in my opinion.

I did not have a laptop ect. in the past to log. I will have one this time. The car was never run hard on gas and had good e85 in it when it broke.

With the newer interface you can set channels to log in the config and then use it to datalog without the laptop in the car...just need it to view later.

I've thought about doing a dedicated tablet in the car too for this purpose so it's not as intrusive, bulky or such a PITA.
