How rushed was development of the 170?
Things take time to figure out all the problems etc and the clock was ticking.

I remember the Demon/ADR being hinted at well over a year before anything concrete became available.
Ram had the original TRX at Texas State Fair in 2016!

I think they spent a little over a year on development. We gotta remember it's actually a 9 year old car, just updated drive train and some suspension tweaks. So far I've seen nothing that suggests development was an issue.

Everything I've found on mine, and it's been minor, have been assembly issues. Knock on wood that's all I find.

All I've found was the busted sub (replaced under warranty), and the oil being over filled which sounds like that's been a thing on Hellcats in general since 2022. I did find a couple drips from my rear diff. I put a torque wrench on the through bolts and they were all tight. Since putting a few miles on it I've not seen another drip. That may have been one of those heat cycle things to get everything happy.

My first Demon 170 did exactly the same thing. Wiped a drip off it a couple times and then never again. This Jailbreak 170, none whatsoever. But I keep looking at it expecting the same thing, but it's been dry.

I tend to separate engineering and assembly roles though. I can engineer a well thought out and reliable product. If it's not assembled properly that all goes out the window.

Almost feels like these have been a "welp, last ones and we're all furloughed for 2 years so screw it".
Speedy, are you going to use pump E85 when you race?

Their work looks familiar… I heard they got the guys, and this is what they recovered. Hang them high!

I'll use a mix of 93 and Renegade Pro E85

I seen Demonology race his 170 with some gay wrap yesterday on Youtube and his car stalled for a second off the line about 50 feet out. Ive seen that with several 170's is that a known problem they are working on?

He wasnt the first to post something like that. Seems to bog when it sees tire slip sometimes almost like traction control kicks in for a second. Them tires need to be heated up a LOT otherwise they spin.

IDN why anyone with a Demon 170 wouldnt just put a 15 inch on it. Ur not doing anything other then stright line pulls ur aint carving corners so why not put the better tire on it to handle the 1000+ hp?

Just seems really silly to me. My Mustang spun them Street R's like I was on a skating pond I just find them utterly useless other than on my Hawk with AWD. I still spin them tho..... They are nothing to write home about smh. When a 15 inch conversion comes out for my Hawk ill be buying it and putting the Pro Radial on trust me!

No 15" conversion for me. You can tune this car for track conditions right through the Uconnect screen on the fly.

I ran into the same problem with my Redeye spinning those Street R's really bad and that was on 93 octane and it made less power than the Demon 170 makes on 93 and the Demon is lighter which wont help with traction on the street.

The Trackhawk is heavy AF but that extra weight helps it plant the tires down. Ur gonna come to a cross-road Speedy where ur either gonna deal with a spinning tire on the street which sucks or get a Pro Radial. Spinning aint winning.

On E85 ur gonna melt them tires like the dude did in the Motortube video where the 170 raced a mildly modified Hawk. Every hit he spun really bad and the little shithead Motortube was talking shit about it but I know for a fact if he had a better tire he would have sling-shotted past him!

His Trackhawk is a low 10 second truck and he was destroying the 170. That has EVERYTHING to do with the TIRE and nothing else!

No 15" conversion for me. You can tune this car for track conditions right through the Uconnect screen on the fly.

I don't race on the street. I'll be running a regular o'l street tire for cruising here soon.

I've been pulling some datalogs and it does spin the ETR even at 80mph on the highway. I've learned to feather the throttle a bit to get a clean log.

900+ft lbs....not much is gonna deal with that on the street.

I would agree. Doug Redd looked them up and this is what came up but he also changed his post

FYI The fuel injector used on the Demon 170 is the same injector shown as used on the Redeye and Super Stock, part # 6859318AA
*** can anyone can confirm this 2023 part number does in fact cross over to the 2023 redeye/superstock ?

The Redeye injector is 68593181AA so not sure if he left out the 1 at the end in his post or it is a different part number
You have the correct Part # 68593181AA. The other fellow left out the #1 at the end. That is the injector that is used in the Demon 170. I have a complete D170 3.0L IHI twin screw straight from the factory and removed a injector to confirm your info. 20240428_134824.jpg 20240428_134901.jpg 20240419_100658.jpg 20240419_175149.jpg 20240419_175213.jpg 20240419_175238.jpg 20240419_175308.jpg

From the info I received on Injectors.

2015-20 Hellcat's used 68170238AB

2021-23 Hellcat's used 53011614AA
Includes the TRX's & Durango's up to 2024

2018 Demon, 2019-23 Redeye's & 2021-23 SS's used 5038838AA

2023 Demon 170 used 68593181AA which also used a Voltage Stabilizer with them.

No idea.
They may have found an issue with the earlier version and had to give them a whole new part # instead of just giving them a revision suffix letter like a "AC" after the part # which would have been the normal thing they did.
In that case it had to be a complete redesign for them to give it a completely different part # or they changed supplier.

a thought, since most in the younger generations are only being taught the french commie measurement system, perhaps they're loading them all up with 7 liters [or litres for our neighbors] vice 7 standard measure quarts. Likely most don't know the difference [plenty of those morons around here]

That depends on three factors. One, not sure if these engines came to the plant already loaded with oil from Mexico where they are built or if the oil dispensing machine at the plant was malfuctioning or improperly programed since they don't put oil in out of containers like we would in the public.

Great info on the injectors.

Aren't the 170 engines built in the US?

That's a good question. As far as I know all Gen III engines are built in Mexico but would need confirmation as far as the 170's go. I'll see what I can find out for ya.
