Why are the cam base circles off? I have always known if you bought a cam for a certain engine all the stock stuff bolted up. Big block mopars are not adjustable and you ordered a big block cam and never had to think the pushrod may be different. Coming from fox body small block ford stuff, we ordered a cam for it and never worried about the pushrod length being different. Ford makes bigger cams and so do others but never heard it was an issue. The factory pedestal rockers are non adjustable. Once you changed heads and went with stud mount I guess if there was a slight difference you wouldn't know being you adjusted them when you bolted them on

The cam base circles are NOT off. It is the related components that are involved in the pushrod length that we have to account for. For example, if the engine block is surfaced differently, the cylinder heads are surfaced differently or the head gasket is a different compressed thickness. Also you have to account for the possibility that the rocker shaft stands may vary some in height. There are definitely variables involved that also existed in the older vehicles you mention which means you just got lucky - which can still happen today but we prefer to verify.

Don't let it stop you, it really is nothing more than an observation, and just commenting...

As for the rest of the peanut gallery above, you can safely ignore them, they have about 5min left of membership in the forum. Kind of like being a Dead-man Walking...

So they are the same. I was more referring of nothing else changing in the engine. The stock pushrods work and if you only change the cam then they still will work. I was getting the impression the base circle could be off by different cam companies
