LOL I don't have any plans on moving to Florida at this time. @SilverBillet has retired to there and is living the good Life!

1500 Ram with Airlift suspension. 2016 with the 5.7, doesn't even notice the trailer. Has a controller in the cab to add or remove air.

Do you have the ones that go in the springs or the big 5000lb ones.

I looked at the Ram too.
My Dealer never called back
To let me know if I could
Order the unconnect 3 7” radio
Instead of the unconnect 5 screen like in our cars that delaminates.

Does Ram even make a regular cab anymore?

Not in a 1500 but you can in a 2500. Weird.
The truck I ordered is very rare
GM produces only around 100 of these
Each year.

That's a bit odd. When I did a test run (against better knowledge) with my 1500 pulling an empty 16' flatbed, it noticed the trailer. And the already less than stellar fuel economy took a dump.

Or did you not notice that the trailer was there? That seems to be common, unfortunately, but I doubt that you're so insensitive that you didn't.

My 24' open pulled very well behind the 1500. It was setup for towing with the 3.92 posi and HD towing setup. Fuel economy was never very good. It was very well balanced.

I've never questioned that a 1500 can pull a trailer. It's the safety aspect of it that scares me.

A light tow vehicle with small brakes and tiny mechanical components is not what I like to tow with. Sure, if it was a Kia, Tesla, or even a Charger, back there I wouldn't feel so bad about it. But a Challenger?

Seriously, though, there's just no way I can not feel a trailer behind a 1500, and that bugs me. In contrast, with 25,000 lbs. behind the 3500 there's no forgetting that the weight is there, but it doesn't really affect handling. Of course, that's with gooseneck trailers, which are infinitely nicer to pull.

If there's one redeeming factor for bumper pulls, it's that you can use a WD hitch on them. On the other hand, you almost have to.

I knew that it was there. I would take precautions and give myself plenty of room. Same with the 2500 and the enclosed. I do have experience driving 18 wheelers years ago and was professionally trained.

Ah, that's where we differ. I only have experience with a 14-wheeler (okay, 22 when pulling doubles) and never had any professional training. Can't even say that I learned on the job, as I never did drive for anyone, or commercially.

But then you know how much fun it isn't to not have a trailer behind the tractor. That's at least an advantage with our light duty pickups...they can be stopped a whole lot better than a bobtailing tractor.

I didn't enjoy it even a little bit.

Bobtailing, or driving a tractor trailer in general?

I thought it was great fun, and a superb learning experience. Didn't know a thing about tractor trailers before buying mine.
And figuring stuff out, including how to drive it, was a challenge I'm glad I decided to take on.

I was driving in and out of the NYC area. It got old really fast especially running the NJ Turnpike in a wired truck.

Ouch. That does not sound like fun, at all. I generally left by 4 AM or earlier to miss most of the L.A. traffic.
Coming back home could be a different story, but sure did help hone my shifting skills.
