lol, thanks for the pants photo, that made me chuckle.

They're actually just cargo shorts and pants made out of the old rip-stop fabric developed in WW2. Deep side pockets, cargo pockets with snap closures, and between the two, on either side, a large zipper pocket. I carry all kinds of keys, wallets, phone, etc... and when I have those, and my 9mm in the side pocket, the pistol raises the zipper "track" high enough to contact the bottom of that steering wheel. It annoys me even though I know that it is meaningless. Should have figured it out / noticed it immediately. Other shorts and pants (with pockets that are really too small for effective pocket carry) don't have this problem, so I just wear them instead.

I'll probably just live with it now and eventually swap the steering wheel. Is that a DIY level of difficulty in these cars? I have never swapped one in a car with an air bag! Yes, I'm sort of old.

I get by. I think I lack the motivation to make something of myself.

Oh, and I hesitate to paint the damn thing because it'll look even worse. It would never be perfect and that would annoy the OCD in me even worse. lol First world problems

It’s easy to swap, just have to pop the airbag out. Have done it a few times already installed the paddle shifters and aux buttons

Why don't you just tilt it up a little?
A whole heck of a lot cheaper.
