I chuck them in the lathe and blow them out with a needle jet of 150 psi of air, then spin them and hit them with air again. I’ve never reused them in my hellcat engine after cleaning yet, I don’t know if I would because they’re really not that expensive, but I’ll have them on hand just in case I’m poor someday lol. They where too like new to toss them, only 3800 miles on them. Their boxed and can sit for a long time if needed lol. It was more of an experiment of how clean would they get then anything else.

Maybe inspect with a borescope before use??

How do those plugs like a 250 shot? 😊
Dont know, yet at least 😂

But I’m sure their too hot, guys I know hitting it that hot are running 2 step colder Brisks at .018” gap. If I end up making 1000 we are better I’ll be a happy camper with my narrow body I’m having a hard enough time putting that down the way it is. And I’m just going to end up breaking shit, my transmission even though fitted with 9310 gearing won’t handle that tq and I’m not going Dog box on the street. I wouldn’t be here right now if the clutch’d pulleys would’ve held up, I would’ve been good running that set up for probably quite a while, Maybe hit it with a small shot of spray for cooling but that would’ve been about it now I don’t think I’m going to have to do that with the Whipple.

Ya that wouldn't be my first choice plug on a 250 shot. Prolly be fine for a 100 or less.

Problem 1, TB adapter is sized for stock TB, They say it’s ready for up to a 108 TB, I guess only if you have your own lathe LOL. Guess I know what I’ll be doing at work tomorrow morning lol
Taking it out to the outside of the factory Oring groove, which will open it up to 107.64 mm leaving hopefully the black anodizing in that area.

It was suggested to me to not use the Insulator plates but I don’t see how they could be a detriment? They are port matched to the cylinder heads and are a little larger in diameter than the ports coming out of the Whipple so that should help the transition not hit a sharp ledge edge on the head I would think. Opinions?

Thermal spacer and longer runner both for air and fuel charge, seems like pluses.

Only downside I can think of is physical spacing within the engine bay.

Another downside (but not different than the IHI) would be the timing of the injector pulse to the valve timing...

My vote is run 'em for their intended thermal benefits. The port sizing/geometry is in the proper direction, i.e., no "wall" for the incoming airflow to hit

Saw some were boring out the adaptor. Are bolts missing off the lid?

I ran across this forum entry this morning. Took me all day (off/on) to get through it. Sorry about your dog, really surprised I didn't see a picture of the new dog eating pizza. Can't wait to see how your Whipple improves things for you.

If you get a chance, take time to watch the rocket launch Monday morning. I've been working on that rocket for 6 years now. Can't wait to see it roar off on its mission.

Rob

Yes, I will be boring the adapter out tomorrow to 108 mm. They only put a few bolts in the lid, it has to come off to install something inside. I color scanned the instructions with the intent of posting them but the pdf is 75mb in size, can’t even email it :(.

Are those from nitrous outlet? I thought you said you bought the brackets and bolts from them?
No, these are original FI insulator plates but I can add spray bars to them, I can gun drill them end to end, someday. The bracket I will post pictures of where and how it goes, took me a bit to figure out how its intended mounting is.
I will locate the plates with dowels into the heads but not into the blower as there no holes for them nor screw holes to secure them to the bottom of the blower like is done on the IHI
