That’s pretty much what I’m thinking. It would have to be a custom fit piece, fabricated specifically for the car and enclose and contain the entire underside of the motor. I haven’t seen one. I figure we can make one at the shop but there’s nothing available for purchase like that as far as I know. I see that needing to be fabricated out of the proper grade aluminum with a fair amount of shaping and tig welding. Sounds a lot more expensive than a $300 diaper 😂

And that aluminum pan will contain that steel rod that just exited the iron block. It’s better than nothing, but it doesn’t replace a diaper.

Who runs steel rods? My car is slow so I only have the factory belly pan.

You need to take a look at the proper diaper that I’m talking about. It fits the pan and sides of the block like a glove. It does not hang or fall down. It is secured with three quick release straps on each side that attach to the engine at the header flanges. What you’re talking about sounds like the old trans/bell housing blankets. I don’t use those.

The initial install in reality requires a lift due to attaching the straps to header bolts from underneath. I would not want do that without access with a lift. Once the straps are in place then it’s a easy on and off with the quick release buckles that are down low. Releasing the buckles to be able to pull the diaper away from the oil drain is easy and simple. I honestly can’t answer whether one of these might create a oil temp issue. I can imagine that would be a question for prolonged driving in a hot circumstance.

As long as the front frame rails were not bent it's repairable.
In that last pic I'm not so sure.

The few races I ran in the NMRA around 2000 I had to have trans blanket. I ran an AOD an no one made a shield then. I did buy one years later but there was no way it would fit without hammering out the tunnel so it never went on. Anyway, I drove the car daily so before the race I would put it on and after the weekend take it back off. It only took a few minutes to do

For me I would do the same thing for the diaper. Once the top was done with the header bolts with the straps, it appears you could unstrap it pretty easy for street driving

There still may be enough airflow that you could just leave it on

Ouch, hate to hear it but I thought so.
I hit the wall like that in 2017 in my 2015 Mustang GT, Procharged & mine was totaled too.
It sucked but that's why I have my 2017 HC now.
Hopefully she has some ins. coverage & or can salvage parts.

Nice Marc, I had the 1997 Black Cobra & ran in the Summit Series bracket for 2 years, T56 made it hard to be consistent, still finished 10th out of 66 at my track. Fun times.

Yeah I saw that. When it opened for numbers guess I was the 6th. I was looking for the lowest number then picking one out in 4xxx

Haha. If you ever talked to them on the phone back then you probably talked to my wife. She gave me my first choice of the Renegade series numbers. That was back when Gliden and Murillo were running Outlaw. I didn’t have the budget to run with them.
