When I was 15 I flipped a car
1970 Ford Meteor
Got arrested
Priest wasn t too happy about his lawn but he did mention how glad he was about me being unscathed in the ordeal at Sunday mass
Dad smacked me upside the head in the police station while I wrote my statement down
Staff Sargent smirked at me
Phack that hurt

I had to pay the dude that misplaced his car for a new 1
He made out OK
My piggy bank not so much
Flipped it for a profit.

I was blessed my Mom taught me about money and financing early in life. I'll never forget going in to buy a brand new 97 Toyota Tacoma 4x4. Next thing I know 3 sales guys are hammering me with numbers, drawing circles and arrows on paper, blah blah blah. I let them go on for about 5 minutes and come up with some down payment amount and monthly payment for 72 months. I said lemme see your calculator and they all go quiet. I tapped away on the calculator spun it around and asked them how a $30K truck was worth $72K in payments of 6 years. I told them to get their sales manager and quit the BS or I was going to another dealer to make the purchase.

I remember thinking do people really fall for that crap. I ended up getting the truck for $28K and paid it off in 24 months.
They do.
And even worse, everyone has a calculator on their phone.

Dealers try to lock you in the place for hours and you would think these people would be smart enough to use that calculator.

When I bought the Tundra it took them 6 hours to sell me the truck.

I just sat there and kept saying, "why am I even looking this truck"?

Yeah I don't play those games either. I typically take a look at something I'm interested in a time or two, get to know a salesman, and when I'm ready to pull the trigger I tell them I have an appointment and need to be gone in 1 hour. They're scared to death to let you leave. Most of the time when I show up the paperwork is almost done.

I have a buddy in the business and have bought our last 3 cars from him and it's been a Godsend. No mucking about, just a straight up good deal that's easy to execute. He delivered my wife's car for free. When I need another one I'll always ping him first.

I did that once and swore off ever buying a new car.

Have friends in the dealer business who told me how to do it.
Now, If I want a new car, I call my bank and tell me to run numbers and have a check ready.
Shop online for a car I want or order it.
When I found what I want, I negotiate over phone/text/email. If a dealer asks for me to come in, I decline and say I don't buy cars that way. We can do this on the phone and you get a sale or I buy elsewhere.

My last 3 new car purchases required me to be at the dealer no longer than 15 minutes to sign papers and hand over a check.

And even that was too long LOL.

Yup I sure did...@ 95..my mother still cant give me a reason she was so strict..in 1957...on N.Ogden and Lovejoy...there was a gas station we used to frequent...(I was 4)...all the Road Vultures worked there..they were a seedy bunch..they were my heros..I remember them kick startin old Knuckle Heads...loud bikes flyin down the street...I remember one guy always wore a bandanna..scrufty beard..and a wandering eye...not too friendly...I remembering tellin my mother when I grow up..I wanna ride a motorcycle and work in a gas station...she kept tellin me ..dont look @ those guy's...there Bums....The Road Vultures was a MC club before your time(y)
I won’t get into details here, but I’m pretty familiar with the Road Vultures… I may even have some memorabilia kicking around from them, HA, and the Outlaws. And there was always a Knuckle in his collection, my younger brother has it now.
That’s quite the introduction to the culture.
I’ve been to the club houses, trap houses, blessings, all sorts of stuff. Kind of wish I remembered more, kind of glad I don’t.

Normally I know what we want. Not this time. I was out trying to see what was available. After looking at the "big 3" trucks I wasn't interested.

Stopped by Toyota to just take a look. 1 Tundra in stock and it was an order that someone didn't take. The rest took forever. 1130 at night the salesman was picking up the Ram from my house.

We have a ton of car events around here so there's always a mixture of cars and people.

A Wed meet not far from me brings out the Corvette Club guys. It's like I'm back in high school. I rarely go.

I take the Charger dirty most of the time and park it out of the way with it locked up. I'm there to talk to friends.
I get it...there are times I take my dd ram to events..partly because I can smoke a cigar on the way there..(my cars have never been smoked in..or any type of food ..or drink)...or Im just too damn lazy to drive in the back and get one of the cars out...like you..I go to hang out with the guys...and look @ cars....I already know what my cars look like...

I started worked at a gas station when I was 15. Finally got a job at Lou's Sunoco where all the cool cars were and finally at a machine shop - auto parts store where everyone was a racer. My hometown was full of race cars.

When I was 14-16 I was a pit gopher for a local top fuel team and a Super Stock racer. I would sleep either under the truck or in it inside a sleeping bag. I could only go to the events on the east coast. My mom wouldn't let me go any further away.
Glorious time for a kid that age...(y)

Worked 6 nights a week to support the Challenger. Then went into the work release program in high school.

I was 18 working at the auto parts machine shop. IRS came in closed the place down. I went to answer the phone Jesse Campbell the IRS agent told me to put the phone down that I no longer worked there.

Wow and already big up to $170K! People are crazy!

Has an awesome spec though.

For comparison, a 300 mile Super Stock ($85K) and a REWBJB ($65K) and neither met reserve.

Granger on the other site said 20 are going to dealers who can move Dodges before year end.
Didn't say Hellcats

This states 40.

If they are just going to be more markups then what is the point?
Hellcats and Scats are sitting with discounts on the hood. Are they hoping dealers say screw it, drop prices 10-15% like the PD days in hopes of landing a 100k ADM?

Stellantis is trying to drown their dealers with inventory which isn't selling.

That's what I'm wondering. Did 3300 not sell?
