I was under the impression that all DHC’s came with the hitch and pin setup. I was mistaken and ours does not have it 😂.
What is the best way to get this done? We have an open utility trailer we use for dirt bikes. Our trailer does have brakes on it so a trailer brake controller would be welcome as well. I see plenty of “kits” online just didn’t know if someone has first hand experience with any of them.

What year? It’s easier to do on pre 2018, no so much after from what I’ve read

2021.
Was pretty surprised when I got underneath and it was just a huge empty space under there.

If we were closer you could have that stuff off of a '19 I recently bought. Somebody had ticked all the boxes on that one - except for the sunroof, thank God.

Unlike on the '23, where I had not choice but to get not only the towing package, but also 3rd row seats and a sunroof. Couldn't order a Base model at the time.

Trailer brake is harder to add on 2021+, all different. Before that the wiring was there in the dash and just had to add the switch, enable with Alfa, and I believe the jumper harness for the trailer lights etc in the back. Can’t do that with the 2022+, which is why I made sure to buy one with the tow package. Agree, sunroofs are a big no no

If it’s that big of a pain to add it all we may just keep towing with the trx and leave this alone.

I wouldn't tow with a 1500, but is has to be better than doing it with a Durango.

Only certain swamp people and DGatzby do that.

Not trying to start WW3, but to me a 1500 isn't a "truck". It's a car with a bed on the back.

I must admit that I tried towing with my '14 1500, and it was a miserable experience even with an empty 16' trailer.
Also admittedly, when getting the TRX I hooked up the same trailer (normally I only use goosenecks) to find out if it was any better.

It was, but on the other hand, the taller tires makes the marginal brakes even worse. Now I can't remember if that was before or after I switched the 325s to 195s (which helped lateral stability a lot, in addition to the rear anti sway bar).

Would I tow some 3,000 lbs. with the TRX? Yeah,I would, if that's the best I had.

Yeah… let me gooseneck my dirt bikes 😂.
im going to introduce a concept to you, it’s called “overkill”. I’ll go out buy a diesel and gooseneck so that I can be at less than 10% towing capacity at most. Right tool for the right job, if your always hauling 10-20K sure, but for 3K it’s more than fine.

Well, if all I towed was 10K I might consider a 2500. Gasser.

A lot of people feel that a 1500 is more than enough for towing, but I am not one of them. Having towed from 1,5K to 65K I have developed a feel for what works well in real life (not J2807 ratings).

Again, 3K behind a TRX, okay, but it still wouldn't be my first choice. But better than a Durango, because of the extra weight and wheelbase.

Understand you have experience towing, but reality is that the regular pickups can do it and do it just fine. Having a finer feeling for it obviously makes you more sensitive to things you like and don’t like.
soooo with all of this knowledge in towing would you happen to have anything productive for the original question of a tow setup????

Sorry, I offered the useless setup I have, but apparently it won't work as a bolt/plug in on yours. Which might be a good thing.

You won't make me tow with a 1500, and I can't prevent you from from doing it with yours. Fair enough?

Which setup did you offer??? A gooseneck that would be impossible to do in a Durango?

Yeah, looks like it’s not plug and play for 21 and newer.

Yep. And we've gone over that aspect, too.

Most people in here are talking about using normal trailers for 1 car, not multi vehicle/heavy equipment haulers lol. And you put 195 tires in your trx? 🤨
