As mentioned elsewhere, put 20x11s in the rear with 305/35/20 R888Rs. Mostly uneventful install, drove it around. As I mentioned before, car is just worthless with 275 All Weather PS4s and 3.09s. I haven't used more than 15% throttle at any time. Also, the high temp asphalt used out here does not grip them; I had the rear end swing out on me routinely in plain driving, especially down town on 90 degree turns. With these R888Rs, it is a world of difference. Much more like the old HC Charger drove. I was working so I didn't play around with them but I did kick it in the slats a few times and it hooked. Admittedly, it was not at WOT or from a dig, but it was still such a vast difference that it made me smile and also decide maybe I could live with the car if I have to. It also attracted the attention of a Ford Raptor but I did not have the opportunity to show him what it would really do.

I personally feel that the 3.09s with 275 All Seasons on this narrow body car should have been disallowed. Without this set up the car is basically too handicapped to use. Now I think it'll stand a chance. When I get a chance I'll post up some of the photos.

All-season tires are a safety hazard on a 700+ HP vehicle. These cars should only come with Summer performance tires!

Here is the section we ended up cutting out of the liner, just FYI. Also, notice the seeming oil or other stain on the shock? It was not oily or greasy to the touch. Similar on both sides. Assuming it is something applied at the factory.

Looks good Mag. Normal residue on the shocks, not to worry. Go enjoy it.

I took a heat gun to mine and re-formed the liner by just pushing on it with my hand. Haven't had a prob in 2 years.

I can see that. Took a heat gun to the right on first fitting and got it curl back nicely, but when put the wheel back on, the clearances at the corner (where the little bump and the transverse "strut" shaped roll is) were still a little close. Me and my buddy are old school - I just cut that whole piece out. While will keep things slung by the tires from hitting the unibody directly, they'll still transfer energy; and this car is just a nice day hooning around car. So, off with their heads.

Interesting - today I took the car out to a meeting with one of my crew leads and monkeyed around town with it afterwards. Far better grip (again, no launching though). But it took me back. When I had that built up GTO 20 years ago I had the Toyo tires that preceeded the R888Rs and loved them. When I would hit it at speed the car would rotate gradually and controllably about 5 to 8 degrees to the right as the driveline spun up, so they were scrabbling for purchase at the first surge, but then they would hook completely and just run hard and steady. Today, with only a few tests, that is exactly what the Red Eye did when the go pedal was hit. Took me back.

Those were some fun times. Twice the FBI tried to pull me over on my commute. They have no traffic policing authority, so I was not overly concerned, but after time number two, I cooled it somewhat. We had park and rides in Houston, so every day I had different passengers in the car and so I'd post up "Tales from the Park and Ride" that a fair number of folks found entertaining.

Yeah I can't imagine what the 3.09s are like with the redeye, I have the 2.62s and have never had the thought that I need more gear! My car also came with the all season 275s, I remember it was a long week waiting for a new set of ET street SS's to come in. Have fun with that bad boy now ;)

20 x 11 Factory Reproductions 5 spoke replica of the stockers. I'm not made of money, so I leave the stocks up front. I incidently also have 2 sets of OEM 20 x 9.5 satin five spokes for sale, and one set of Factory Reproductions 20 x 11 5 spokes in glossy black up for sale as well.

I think with a 2.62 it would be just about right.... thinking about swapping it out, if you can even get 2.62s from them anymore

It's not like the tires wont spin, so again I don't know how you could even use more gear, and with the redeye's higher redline, I feel like the 2.62s keep you in the higher powerband more. The 2nd/3rd/4th gear pulls are amazing and you also get the lower rpms on the highway, you end up right at about 2k rpms at 100 mph. Plus, some of the fastest 1/4 mile times I've seen for stock redeyes are with the 2.62 anyway. May want to keep an eye on line on the various fakebook pages and local craigslist for one to come up used? I would like to try out a 3.09 at the strip just for fun though
