Beautiful piece! I love those 6-bolt center mains. Geoff and Blackbird are killing it with great new products for Gen3.
Yep, and affordable. Seeing a lot of good things from them, been checking out their stuff lately. I want to see someone run their calve covers on a hellcat and see how it works out

Just got my first set of Blackbird valve covers this week, with two more on order, and I have all the other parts I need to try my first iteration on the Hellcat. Unfortunately, I have on-going family matters that take priority over my shop play time lately, but I plan to try and get out there this weekend to finish tearing things off so I can begin the swap...

Just got my first set of Blackbird valve covers this week, with two more on order, and I have all the other parts I need to try my first iteration on the Hellcat. Unfortunately, I have on-going family matters that take priority over my shop play time lately, but I plan to try and get out there this weekend to finish tearing things off so I can begin the swap...
Yeah, coil packs have to be flipped - can’t remember if there’s enough room for that, even though I just had all of that wiring undone. And there’s no baffles, so you’ll need both sides on a breather tank

Yep, after thinking about it a bit and with what Geoff has advised, I have a plan to try and I will see how it works out. There is going to be a lot of related work than just swapping the covers that will take me time going slow, because I am going to try and make things look good and not a total hack job. I already have seen there is one stinking wire on the left side that runs with the coil harness that goes all the way to the front for the A/C comp (I think) and has to stay where it is, so I am going to have to carefully cut all the OEM Tesa tape from front to back to get the coil wires out at the branch at the rear so I can move 'em up. Haven't even started on the right side yet - gotta get the cowl and all the other shyt out of the way first...and yes, the PS pump is the biggest risk I see - I sort of went out on a limb to get these covers while they are "on sale" - price is going up $50 on March 1. From visual comparison, they look like they SHOULD clear, but if not, then I have a bigger challenge to deal with that I was hoping to avoid.

I just realized I am in Marc's thread - sorry Marc didn't mean to hi-jack! Will keep this in the "What have you done" thread where I hinted the other day at my project. Last post here for me about this.
Lol. That’s ok. Btw…. A set of their new cast covers will be going on this engine. I already run my coils upside down so that’s good. I ordered them with the black wrinkle finish without logo. I can’t run another engine builders name on my Spankintime built motor. Geoff confirmed that they will clear my T&D rockers. I already have a new set of Cornerstone billet covers but I’m not sure yet if they will clear. I’ll be selling the 426 that I’ve been running as a complete long block and will probably include those as part of the package. They are beautiful. IMG_7166.jpeg

Interesting, setup for VVT, but I don’t see any bolt provisions for MDS plugs? Surprised to see it have provisions for the MDS solenoids (if that’s what I’m looking at)
Those are not mds solenoids. They look like the following.

if he’s running a dominator still, vvt is not supported. I use a lockout on a 6.2 phaser, that blackbird gear is nice!

Wonder what the holes are for, maybe casting? Interesting. Just noticed they’re threaded, so easy to plug up

A big plus that I wasn’t expecting with these new cast covers is weight. They weigh 6 lbs less than the billets. What a bonus that is for somebody looking to shed lbs. He has a new bracket to address that. Something like $20 so it’s not an issue.

Those are nice, I have the billet versions now on my new car but I would have rather waited to save some money on the cast ones.

Also just a word on weight savings…. Once you’ve removed all the unnecessary parts and pieces that can simply be unbolted, it starts to get expensive to replace parts with light weight pieces. This block is 125 lbs lighter than the Dart. At this stage….. that is huge. One of the things you see on some of the faster Hellcats are CF doors. That is a $3500 weight reduction that gets you 60 lbs for your money. This block was $3000 more than the Dart. While certainly not as strong as a billet example (or the Dart) it is seriously upgraded to being a capable race motor. R&D insider at Callies says 2500 on turbos and methanol is no issue and that will work for me at our target weight of 3500 lbs.
Ah how much? Approx?

They are absolutely awesome for the cost! I got my first set a couple weeks ago, and am right at the stage of performing the trial fit, so I do not know for sure, but after a second look, I believe they will be a problem with the reservoir because I now think they are slightly taller than OEM in that area - it is hard to visually compare because of the complex shape of the OEM with the China Wall. Right when I came to that conclusion, his new product offering hit Facebook literally within minutes of me coming back from the shop and sitting back down in my office. I ordered the lift kit immediately as an insurance policy so I won't lose the time when I get down to the job - it is $59, and I received that last week. I decided to put a custom color on the Challenger, so I am back waiting again for two more sets which haven't shipped yet.

Smart. Man should have fit these before the price went up ha. Car is bad together and all tuned up already anyway. Maybe next time I have it all apart
