I believe you're on the right track. EV's will stay, but much smaller market share, than anticipated. Ford is decreasing EV trucks/cars and increasing ICE, more profits. Dodge and friends should cut their projected EV share, they were lucky, so far. Trump/Haley will be here in a year and we will go back what the consumer wants to buy, not green garbage rammed down your throat, but with a healthy economy. Electrics will have an important place, golf carts, flashlights, weed eaters and leaf blowers...

There is some dinosaur thinking going on here, imo. I have 2 EV's and they are my preferred commuting vehicle. The quickest vehicle produced currently is a Lucid Sapphire which has over 1,200 HP and goes 8.9's all day without any drama, it costs 250K and will smoke a Demon170 in the real world (on the street). It goes high 8.9s/ low9.0s on the street with street tires. It has 3 electric motors and each rear wheel has its own motor. The range is 440 miles or so.

The world has changed, the CEO of Rivian said something to the effect of buying an ICE vehicle is like building a horse barn in 1910. The EV's keep getting better and better including the incentives. For example, my electric company now offers a 10.5 cent discount for charging EV's at home off peak (after 9:00 PM and before 7:00 AM M-F) and anytime on the weekends. That means to charge my Ioniq5 will cost less than 10 cents per KW which equates to paying between $ 2.70 and $3.60 to drive 120 miles (varying from summer and winter). That is a crackhead deal that I will take advantage of when my free charging (yes I know it is not free but it is free to me) with EA (Electrify America) ends next summer.

Once you own a good EV, it is hard to go back to ICE for commuting/local driving.

Local driving or commuting...in less than extreme conditions..(north east winters)...yup it makes sense...@ least for now...eventually the Govt. and power companies will see it as a untapped cash cow...then the trouble starts...

This is one of my electric ice augers.
Ice Auger Manufacturers do not produce
Or sell many gas augers anymore.

It’s been in the 40s and 50s temperature wise we are not making any ice so far this season either.

You have more faith in reversing global politics than I do. Europe is set in stone. Asia too. Incentives wont evaporate from our govt anytime soon. Elon wont allow it lol

Whats next, everyone will forget about global climate change because the ICE guys deem it to be BS/"nothing to see here"?
I get what you are saying, I'm just saying it wont matter and no one will be putting the toothpaste back in the bottle overnight. Maybe 10-15 years from now? After trillions in global investment in EV infrastructure, I doubt it. Not sure how you lived this long and still think the government can ACT QUICKLY. It doesn't. Ever.
I have zero faith in believing that with the current state of global politics that reversing anything is easy.

Stop complying and things will change instead of being a subservient citizen.

I was on a flight recently and the guy next to me said that he might be in the c I a. I told him that I was a patriot and I'm serious.

Do you have the balls to say this?

You are way out of the loop here. Cars are getting even faster. The aftermarket is designing, building selling pretty much everything needed to race.

Some tracks have closed. It's always the best managed ones who win. New tracks are being built. Abandoned tracks are being reopened.

Again. Car counts are through the roof. NHRA national events are no longer the king events of drag racing. Events like TX2K, FL2K, World Cup Championship are the new huge events bringing racers from around the world. Drag and Drive is another exploding part of drag racing. Don't forget pro bracket racing where they're racing for millions per event.

EVs are going nowhere. Just check the "green" stocks. They've lost an average of 34% in value the past year. Institutional buyers are bailing. Automakers are pulling back. Some Automakers are going to end up like the poorly managed drag strips. Out of business.
Preach!

Stories like this are going to scare a lot of prospective EV buyers back to ICE.

Scratch the belly pan cover? void the warranty, needs 60K battery replacement and write-off. This is on a new IONIQ 5.

I think this dealer really just took this kid for a ride, but still ...WTF?

People are already coming back to ice. Taking huge losses on their evs just to get out of them. I think I read that around 60-70% won't be buying another ev.

Plus the limited places to get them repaired, where many times the dealer where you bought it doesn't have the capability to repair and must ship it somewhere else for the repair.

What Cole mentions actually highlights that EVs aren't mainstream and may never be. You don't offer incentives on things that sell. Everyone talks about how fast they are, but who cares? I have a remote control RC truck that does 70mph. EVs just don't tick the sensory boxes most Americans want in an automobile. My neighbor works on future vehicle development for a major manufacturer. They're already talking about moving away from EV and toward hydrogen. They're analysis shows not enough minerals on the planet to sustain battery production is what he told me. They're also having problems getting people to "fall in love" with their EV since it's not ticking the boxes from a sensory perspective.

People who buy in to them now will have expensive paper weights in a few years I think.

Add to that it's hard to get them serviced as well. My friend has a IONIQ 5 and local dealers couldn't perform a recent recall. Hyundai sent a flat bed to pick it up and shipped it to a dealer 4 hours away to perform a 30 minute recall, then shipped it back to him. Provided him an ICE loaner car while it was gone LOL.

Most dealers don't know how to fix them so they'll try to get rid of you instead of taking the proper steps for their customers.

The dealers are trying to dig their own graves.

The Government is moving them along at record speeds with a backhoe of funding

Some critical thinking on the big picture concerning EV’s….. 😳. Infrastructure. What’s the answer to that? They can’t keep what we got from browning out now. The environmental impact of the whole battery thing. Child slaves mining in Africa for China? The depreciation of the car itself when the battery is shot. We not only have throwaway appliances but the cars will be too? One thing going for EV’s now…. they go down the road passing gas stations like it’s free. At least some think they are. What about when the gov starts taxing miles driven? I think we will see the great reversal on all this if the government changes course like most of us hope for. If not… we’ll all be living in 15 minute hamster cages and not driving anywhere so it won’t matter. Burn rubber while you can.

I’d take a Lucid or Plaid if someone offered. I like fast.

Not sure how one takes a huge loss on a EV, so far I have saved over 35K and the savings keep coming.

Speedy, the only recalls on the Ioniq5 are updates to the software. Nothing that requires the car to be towed. Some of the Hyundia dealers are not certified sell or work on the EV's. In my neck of the woods all the dealerships in the area with the exception of the Trenton dealership are certified.

Toyota is coming out with a solid state battery that has a range of over 700 miles, it is scheduled to be produced in 2027/2028. As I said before, the ship has left the port.

You never driven one, the Ioniq5 handles just awesome and is the easiest vehicle to drive. No oil changes, no maintenance other than changing the motor coolant at 40,000 miles.

Regarding performance, some are stupid quick, the Lucid Saphire is literally the quickest vehicle on the street, quicker than any factory motorcycle or any other vehicle (it killed a 1,500 HP Bugatti Veyron in a 1/4 on a unprepped surface
