Are there any "Good" extended warranties?

I've always felt they're a bit of a sham. They're touted as "8 year 100,000 mile warranty" or whatever, but those years run concurrently with your factory warranty, so you're basically getting 3 extra years, not 8.

I like the one I purchased in 2019. I’m going to get a $2,500 refund in January for not using it.

I bought two in my life, 2003 and 2005, never needed to use either. Tempted to get one for the 2020, but, yes, they seem like a scam, but, yes, repair costs are absurd.

Last week I was in the dealer’s waiting room while they did the scan on the RE. Service “Advisor” came in and told the lady across from me that her car failed inspection. It had a cracked tail light lens ($256 plus installation) and needed pads and rotors on the front, total $1268. I bit my lip.

When I needed pads on my truck, Rockauto offered a set of pads and rotors for $86 plus shipping. I bought a tail light lens for an old friend’s truck, new replica, for $35 shipped.

I don’t know what car she owned, but she was not dressed like an owner of something like an Aston-Martin.

No wonder why people are struggling these days… But you know they will vote for the person that will “help” them!

Mopar’s MaxCare Lifetime was so good they stopped offering it. Service manager told me they’ve replaced engines with 200K on them for the $100 deductible. Got a Lifetime my ‘14 JGC. It just recently paid for itself when a motor mount started leaking. Dealer replaced both mounts for $100. No rust on this vehicle after 11 Michigan winters and it runs like new. Going to keep it until a repair exceeds the value of the car.

I've had a few OE extended warranties and never had issues. Always been wary of the aftermarket ones tho.

Before I met her, my wife got conned into one on a new Colt. Unfortunately, most dealers would not accept it & she had moved 100's of miles from the selling dealer, so every claim was a hassle. Final straw was when the trans went out & they would only pay for a used one. Took a week to get it shipped in from some boneyard. Lasted all of 3 months and started to act up - ended up just dumping the car.

Didn't you replace your engine twice? Maybe those were handled with the Manufacturer's warranty though???

You can still get up to 8 year/125K.

Yep. Life is good. The refund will pay me back for my tune etc. is the logic I used at home.

My HC..(8 yrs. old.)...Demon (6 yrs. old)...probably couldn't get an extended that old..the 170...gonna look into that...my wife's C8..(4yrs. old)...should look into that as well I guess...but I'm incredibly lazy when it comes to that shit...
